Repeated pregnancies and live births after in vitro maturation treatment

Objective:
To discuss and describe the successful treatment of women with primary infertility using in vitro maturation (IVM) of immature human oocytes resulting in repeated pregnancies and live births in the same individuals.
Design:
Case report.
Setting:
McGill Reproductive Center, Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University.
Patient(S):
Six patients who underwent IVM treatment.
Intervention(S):
In vitro maturation and fertilization of immature human oocytes.
Main Outcome Measure(S):
Clinical pregnancies and live births.
Result(S):
We report 11 singleton and 2 twin live births as a result of IVM treatment in six women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
Conclusion(S):
In vitro maturation of human oocytes is a novel treatment in the management of infertility. It is an effective method of conception, especially in women who have polycyctic ovaries.
