Summary

Intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy can delay peritoneal carcinomatosis. However, this treatment may cause painful scrotal ulcers, requiring clinical awareness for early detection and management.

Background:

Peritoneal carcinomatosis is a common complication of various abdominal malignancies.
Intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy (HIPEC) combined with tumor cytoreduction is a standard treatment to delay disease progression.
Mitomycin-C is a chemotherapeutic agent used in HIPEC regimens.

Observation:

Two cases of painful scrotal ulceration were observed following tumor debulking and HIPEC with mitomycin-C.
The ulcers presented as a painful manifestation in the scrotal region.
The exact cause of the scrotal ulcers in this context remains unclear.

Findings:

Scrotal ulceration is a potential, albeit rare, adverse event associated with HIPEC using mitomycin-C.
