Summary

Saliva cortisol measurement using Salivettes offers a reliable, non-invasive method for predicting serum cortisol levels. This method is more accurate than passive drool collection for assessing adrenocorticotropic function.

  • Analysis of correlations between collection methods and serum cortisol levels.

    Conclusions:

    • Salivary cortisol measurement using Salivettes is a reliable method for predicting total and free serum cortisol.
    • The Salivette method is convenient for saliva collection, handling, and laboratory processing.
