Genetic variations in the endothelin-1 system influence asthma severity. The EDNRB-30G>A polymorphism is linked to reduced lung function (FEV1) in asthma patients and smokers.

- The EDNRB-30G>A polymorphism may be a key factor in determining airway obstruction.
- Predisposing factors like asthma and tobacco smoke exposure can modify the impact of this genetic polymorphism on airway obstruction.
