Background:

Osteoarthritis commonly affects the hip and knee, leading to chronic pain.
Standardized questionnaires are widely used to assess pain severity in osteoarthritis patients.

Purpose of the Study:

To explore the lived experience of chronic hip and knee pain.
To understand how patients perceive their pain in relation to common assessment tools.

Main Methods:

Focus groups were conducted with 28 participants experiencing hip or knee pain.
The "questerviews" technique explored pain experiences alongside standard outcome scores (Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score, Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score).
Qualitative analysis identified key themes in pain experience.
