Morphological predictability and acoustic duration of interfixes in Dutch compounds

This study found that more predictable linguistic elements, like Dutch compound interfixes, are spoken longer. This challenges information theory and supports the Paradigmatic Signal Enhancement Hypothesis for speech production.
