[Recent advances in ovarian dermoid cysts. Review of 40 cases]

Basing themselves in 40 cases of dermoid cysts treated by surgery, the authors have drawn attention on the following points: the relatively high incidence of tuberculosis in previous history of patients; the place of X-ray examination and coelioscopy, respectively, in diagnosis, the importance of bilateral involvment, should make heterolateral ovariectomy a rule, in order to eliminate the risk of unrecognized infraclinical lesions leading to subsequent recurrences; finally, the important place of conservative enucleation and resection of the ovary as a therapeutical measure.
