Summary

Ankylosing spondylitis commonly affects the shoulder, causing restricted motion in the scapulothoracic and glenohumeral joints. Inflammatory arthropathy of the sternoclavicular and acromioclavicular joints also occurs, with limited correlation to radiographic findings.
