This study investigated cadherin and beta-catenin expression in melanocytic matricoma, a rare skin neoplasm. Findings suggest the tumor resembles the anagen hair bulb, with beta-catenin potentially playing a transcriptional role.

- E-cadherin and P-cadherin were expressed at the cell membrane of basaloid cells, differentiating keratinocytes, and melanocytes, mimicking anagen hair.
- Both E- and P-cadherin were absent in shadow cells.
- Beta-catenin showed differential localization: nuclear/cytoplasmic in basaloid cells and membranous in differentiating cells, absent in shadow cells.
Implications:
- Results support the hypothesis that melanocytic matricoma resembles the anagen hair bulb.
- The differential expression of cadherins and beta-catenin provides insights into the tumor's development.
