Abstract:
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' final rule regarding changes to the Medicare appeal procedures--some of which affect physicians--recently took effect. The authors advise physician groups undergoing Medicare audits to understand the new appeals process and the strategies available to them. They describe the four-level appeal process and outline legal and other strategies that physician groups can use to appeal a denial.
