Smoking prevention programs are valuable in promoting life-long health behaviors in pediatric populations. Currently, social learning theory is the most common framework used for smoking prevention programs. Smoking prevention programs have reported varied results and have used different delivery and research techniques. The nurse is in an optimal position to plan and deliver a program and determine its effectiveness.
