Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the effectiveness of resistance training (RT) versus combined training (CT) in improving functional ability in functionally limited elders.
  • To assess improvements in strength and functional performance following 16 weeks of exercise intervention.

Main Methods:

  • Elderly adults with functional limitations were randomized into three groups: CT, RT, or control (C).
  • Both CT and RT groups engaged in exercise three times per week for 16 weeks.
  • Strength and functional tests were administered at baseline (Week 0) and post-intervention (Week 17).

  • Both CT and RT groups showed significant improvements compared to the control group at Week 17.
