Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate and compare global upper limb sensorimotor and functional performance in patients with RA versus healthy individuals.
  • To determine the consequences of upper limb sensorimotor deficits in RA.

Main Methods:

  • Assessed global upper limb strength, proprioception (joint position sense), and functional performance (dressing, eating) in 31 RA patients and 18 healthy subjects.
  • Measured hand grip strength, disability, pain, and clinical disease activity in RA patients.

  • RA patients demonstrated significantly lower global upper limb strength, hand grip strength, and proprioceptive acuity compared to healthy controls.
