Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is a type of cancer that occurs when there is an abnormal growth of skin cells, usually triggered by damage to the DNA within the skin cells.   • The lesion extended from the clitoris to the left labium minor without clinical lymph node involvement.

Findings:

  • Incisional biopsy confirmed melanoma 4 mm in thickness.
  • Preoperative lymphoscintigraphy using 99m Tc Nanocoll guided surgical planning.
  • Surgical treatment involved radio-controlled lymphadenectomy and radical vulvectomy.
  • Reconstruction utilized bilateral subgluteus soft-tissue flaps, with urethral and vaginal stump anastomosis.
  • The patient remained disease-free at 36 months post-surgery.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the successful application of a multidisciplinary approach in managing vulvar melanoma.
  • Radio-controlled lymphadenectomy and flap reconstruction offer viable options for surgical treatment and defect repair.
