Recurrent cutaneous necrotizing eosinophilic vasculitis (RCNEV) is a rare condition. This case study shows indomethacin as a potential treatment option for RCNEV, offering an alternative to corticosteroids.
Area of Science:
- Dermatology
- Rheumatology
Background:
- Recurrent cutaneous necrotizing eosinophilic vasculitis (RCNEV) is a rare vasculitis.
- RCNEV presents with pruritic purpuric papules and angioedema.
- Skin biopsies show eosinophil-predominate necrotizing vasculitis in small dermal vessels.
Observation:
- Systemic corticosteroids are effective but have side effects.
- A case of RCNEV was successfully treated with indomethacin.
- This is the first reported case of RCNEV treated with indomethacin.
Findings:
- Indomethacin effectively managed RCNEV symptoms.
- The patient tolerated indomethacin well.
- No adverse effects were noted with indomethacin treatment.
Implications:
- Indomethacin may be a viable alternative treatment for RCNEV.
- Further research is needed to confirm indomethacin's efficacy and safety in RCNEV.
- This finding could lead to new therapeutic strategies for patients with RCNEV.
