Summary

Orbital cavernous hemangioma can present as rapidly developing proptosis. This case report highlights the importance of considering this benign vascular tumor in the differential diagnosis of acute orbital masses.

  • Imaging revealed a well-defined soft tissue mass in the anterior orbit without bone destruction.
  • Surgical excision of the mass was performed.

Findings:

  • Histopathological examination confirmed the orbital mass as a cavernous hemangioma.
  • The tumor was cone-shaped and associated with a lateral hematoma.
  • Complete surgical removal was achieved.

Implications:

  • Rapidly developing proptosis can be an unusual presentation of orbital cavernous hemangioma.
  • Early diagnosis and surgical intervention are crucial for favorable outcomes.
  • This case expands the clinical spectrum of orbital cavernous hemangioma presentations.
