Summary

A Salmonella typhi infection in the L4-L5 spine was successfully treated. Surgical drainage and antibiotics resolved the spinal infection caused by Salmonella typhi.

Spinal infections can be challenging to diagnose preoperatively.
Salmonella typhi is an uncommon cause of spinal osteomyelitis.
Prompt diagnosis and treatment are crucial for favorable outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

To report a case of Salmonella typhi spinal infection.
To highlight the importance of considering unusual pathogens in spinal infections.
To demonstrate effective treatment strategies.

Main Methods:

Case report of a patient with spinal infection.
Preoperative diagnostic evaluation.
Surgical intervention including drainage.
Postoperative antibiotic therapy tailored to Salmonella typhi.

Main Results:

Salmonella typhi was identified as the causative agent of the L4-L5 spinal infection.
The patient showed a positive response to surgical drainage.
Appropriate antibiotic treatment led to favorable clinical outcomes.
