New laser prostatectomy techniques using Holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet and potassium-titanyl-phosphate lasers allow for general anesthesia, even in ambulatory settings. This approach is safe for patients with cardiovascular disease or on anticoagulation therapy, expanding anesthetic options.
