Abstract:
Problem solving is considered a cognitive-behavior process that involves different reactions, decisions, and forms of management. A person's problem solving ability can be enhanced through learning and practice. Some factors, such as age, gender, education, social support, and belief may influence one's problem solving ability. Measures of problem solving ability include: the ability to identify the problem appropriately, the quality of the problem solving process, and the attitude toward problem solving. Effective problem solving ability can improve one's health. There are strategies that we can adopt to enhance patients' problem solving ability and improve their health and well-being.

Measures of Intelligence
Validity refers to how well a test measures what it claims to measure. An intelligence test should accurately assess intelligence rather than another characteristic, like anxiety. Criterion validity is one way to evaluate this; it...
Heuristics
People often rely on heuristics when faced with an overload of information, limited time, low importance of the decision, limited information, or when a heuristic readily comes to mind. For...
Cognitive Learning
E. C. Tolman's theory of purposive behavior emphasizes that much behavior is goal-directed. He argued that to understand behavior, we must look at the entire sequence of actions leading to a goal. For instance, high school students study hard, not just due to past reinforcement but also to achieve the goal of getting into a good college.
Tolman introduced the idea that behavior is influenced by...
