Area of Science:

  • Urology
  • Gynecology
  • Plastic Surgery

Background:

  • Clitoroplasty is an infrequently performed surgical procedure, particularly in adult patients.
  • The primary objectives of clitoroplasty include achieving a natural genital appearance and maintaining erogenous sensation for satisfactory sexual function.

Observation:

  • This report details two cases of acquired clitoromegaly in adult women.
  • Case 1 involved a 46-year-old woman with clitoromegaly attributed to an androgen-producing ovarian tumor.
  • Case 2 involved a 49-year-old woman with clitoromegaly resulting from long-term self-administered anabolic steroid injections.

Findings:

  • Both patients underwent clitoral reduction surgery, with careful preservation of the neurovascular bundle supplying the glans clitoris.
  • The surgical outcomes were cosmetically satisfactory.

Implications:

  • Clitoroplasty is a viable and effective surgical option for correcting acquired clitoromegaly.
  • The procedure demonstrates potential for preserving and restoring sexual function in affected individuals.
