Patients with penetrating cardiac injury and higher trauma scores (Physiologic Index, Penetrating Cardiac Trauma Index, Penetrating Thoracic Trauma Index, and Organ Injury Scale) had a significantly higher mortality rate. These scores indicate more severe injuries in non-survivors.
