Summary

Routine skeletal surveys are not highly effective for monitoring renal osteodystrophy in hemodialysis patients. Elevated parathyroid hormone (PTH) and alkaline phosphatase, not standard labs, indicated bone disease, with hand X-rays being most sensitive.
