Background:

Infertility affects a significant portion of the female population.
Understanding infertility prevalence and healthcare-seeking behavior across different age groups is crucial for public health planning.
Previous research indicates varying factors influencing infertility and its management.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the prevalence of infertility in two distinct age cohorts of women.
To compare healthcare-seeking behaviors related to infertility between younger and older women.
To examine the incidence of spontaneous abortion in infertile women within these age groups.

Main Methods:

A questionnaire-based study was conducted in a defined geographical region.
Two age cohorts of women (36-40 years and 46-50 years) participated in the survey.
Infertility was defined as no conception after 2 years of trying.

Main Results:

The prevalence of infertility was approximately 14% in both the 36-40 and 46-50 year old age cohorts.
A significantly higher proportion of women in the younger age cohort (36-40 years) sought medical help for infertility.
Infertile women in both age cohorts exhibited a higher incidence of spontaneous abortion.

Conclusions:

The prevalence of infertility has remained stable over the past decade across the studied age groups.
There has been a notable increase in the utilization of medical services for infertility management.
The findings highlight the importance of accessible reproductive health services and early medical intervention for infertility.
