A large lipoma involving the foot
1Department of Podiatric Surgery, Kern Hospital, Warren, Michigan.
Abstract:
Lipomas are defined as benign tumors usually composed of mature fat cells. They are most commonly found in areas of abundant adipose tissue, which may explain why they are rarely found in the foot. Careful examination of any potential lipoma includes its anatomical location, consistency, clinical, and roentgenographic findings. The authors describe a large lipoma that was surgically excised from the dorsal aspect of the right foot.
