Summary

This study introduces an algorithm to convert International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision (ICD-9) terms into Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms. The combination of this algorithm and the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) offers a useful tool for medical terminology conversion.
