Background:

Frustration is a common human experience that can be studied experimentally.
A reliable method for inducing frustration is needed for research.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and validate a simple, easily administered frustration-induction procedure for experimental research.
To assess the effectiveness of the procedure in eliciting subjective feelings of aggressiveness.

Main Methods:

One hundred healthy volunteers underwent a frustration-induction procedure where they were prevented from achieving reward scores.
Subjective feelings of aggressiveness were measured using a 13-item visual analogue scale before and after the procedure.

Main Results:

A significant increase in aggressiveness-related feelings was observed in 12 out of 13 measured items.
