[Frozen section: interest and limitations in cancer pathology]

The utility of frozen section examination in the intra-operative management of patients with cancer is well established since the inception of the technique in the eurly part of this century. The aim of this review are to describe technical aspects, indications for and limitations of frozen section diagnosis in cancer surgery. Most common reusonsfor interpretative errors are discussed. The authors offred several recommandations for surgeons and patholgists wich will optimize the clinical utility of intra-operative consultation.
