Summary

Pulmonary infarction can mimic tumors, presenting as a coin lesion. Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery confirmed ischemic infarction in a patient with hemoptysis and chest pain.

  • A 72-year-old woman presented with hemoptysis, chest pain, and weight loss.
  • Chest computed tomography revealed a subpleural solitary nodule with spicular features in the left lower lobe periphery.
  • Thoracoscopic examination suggested a chronic abscess.

Findings:

  • Histological examination confirmed ischemic pulmonary infarction.
  • This case represents the second documented instance of a pseudotumor secondary to pulmonary infarction.
