Background:

Recombinant interleukin-2 (rIL-2) has shown activity in metastatic renal cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma.
The efficacy and toxicity of rIL-2 in continuous infusion for hematologic malignancies require further investigation.

Purpose of the Study:

To determine the efficacy and toxicity of rIL-2 administered via continuous infusion in patients with Hodgkin's disease (HD) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).

Main Methods:

21 patients with relapsed or refractory HD (4), diffuse large-cell NHL (7), or low-grade NHL (10) received rIL-2 therapy.
Therapy involved an induction period of two cycles followed by a maintenance period of four monthly cycles.
Dosage: 18 x 10(6) IU/m2/day continuous infusion on days 1-5 and 12-16 (induction), and days 1-5 (maintenance).
