An Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is a diagnostic procedure in which an endoscopist uses a flexible, lighted endoscope to visualize the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Summary

Endoscopic subcutaneous surgery, new to Urology, offers a minimally invasive approach for inguinal and scrotal procedures. This technique demonstrates excellent results with short operating times and reduced post-operative pain.

Context:

Endoscopic subcutaneous surgery is established in other surgical fields but novel in urology.
The inguinal canal and scrotum present unique anatomical challenges for this technique.

Purpose:

To describe novel endoscopic subcutaneous surgical approaches for the inguinal canal and scrotum.
To evaluate the feasibility and outcomes of these new urological procedures.

Summary:

The inguinal approach involved three 5mm trocars for spermatic cord cyst and tumor removal.
The scrotal approach, used for hydroceles, involves direct access, fluid aspiration, and tunica vaginalis resection.
Both approaches were technically straightforward with short operative times and potentially less post-operative pain.

Impact:

This study introduces innovative endoscopic subcutaneous techniques for urological surgery.
Early excellent results suggest a promising future with expanded indications for these minimally invasive procedures.
