Summary

Extralobar pulmonary sequestration, a rare congenital lung malformation, can occur in the abdomen. This condition should be considered in newborns with suprarenal masses.

Background:

Extralobar pulmonary sequestration (EPS) is a congenital lung malformation.
Typically, EPS involves lung tissue with an anomalous systemic arterial supply.
While usually intrathoracic, rare intra-abdominal presentations occur.

Observation:

A case of a 1-week-old newborn with an intra-abdominal extralobar sequestration is presented.
The sequestration was identified antenatally as a suprarenal mass.
This highlights an unusual location for this congenital anomaly.

Findings:

The study describes a rare intra-abdominal extralobar sequestration.
The mass was located in the suprarenal region.
Diagnostic imaging confirmed the nature of the malformation.

Implications:

Intra-abdominal extralobar sequestration is a rare but important differential diagnosis for suprarenal masses in neonates.
