Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate changes in platelet indices, including platelet distribution width (PDW), mean platelet volume (MPV), and plateletcrit, in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.
  • To assess the correlation of these indices with disease activity and radiological extent.
  • To differentiate platelet index changes in tuberculosis from those in other inflammatory conditions.

Main Methods:

  • Quantification of platelet indices (PDW, MPV, plateletcrit) in 82 active tuberculosis patients and 87 controls.
  • Assessment of radiological disease extent.
