Context:

Achilles tendon rupture (ATR) is a severe injury requiring surgical intervention.

Purpose:

To evaluate functional impairment after surgical treatment for Achilles tendon rupture (ATR).
To compare vertical jump performance between individuals who underwent ATR surgery and healthy controls.
To identify potential risks for engaging in high-impact sports post-surgery.

Summary:

Twenty subjects with surgically treated ATR and 20 healthy controls performed vertical jumps (countermovement and squat jumps).
Flying time (Tv) was measured using accelerometers. Surgically treated subjects showed significantly lower global performance (Tv) compared to controls.
