Risk factors for fatal infectious complications developing late after allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

Late infections are a significant cause of death after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Acute or chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection increase the risk of dying from these late infections.
