Natural killer (NK) cells are decreased in the blood but increased in the conjunctiva of patients with vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC). This suggests NK cells play a role in VKC pathogenesis.

- These findings suggest a role for NK cells and innate immunity in regulating allergic reactions in VKC.
- Targeting NK cells may offer new therapeutic strategies for allergic inflammation in VKC.
