X-linked dilated cardiomyopathy (XLCM) can be an early sign of Danon disease, caused by lysosome-associated membrane protein-2 (LAMP-2) gene mutations. This diagnosis should be considered in families with cardiac and muscle issues, even without dystrophin gene (DMD) mutations.
