Summary

Spontaneous umbilical drainage in adults is rare and can stem from various conditions. This study shows a simple approach using office exams and laparoscopy, avoiding costly imaging for diagnosis.

Background:

Spontaneous umbilical drainage is an uncommon presentation in adult patients.
Congenital and acquired conditions can cause this symptom, necessitating accurate diagnosis.

Observation:

Presents three adult cases of spontaneous umbilical drainage.
Demonstrates a diagnostic approach utilizing clinical examination and basic laparoscopic techniques.

Findings:

A thorough office examination combined with fundamental laparoscopic skills can effectively diagnose the cause of umbilical drainage.
This method obviates the need for expensive and potentially invasive diagnostic imaging modalities.

Implications:

Highlights a cost-effective and minimally invasive strategy for evaluating spontaneous umbilical drainage.
