Background:

Displaced pelvic ring injuries present significant reduction challenges, particularly in delayed treatment scenarios.
Current reduction techniques may limit the directions and magnitudes of force applicable during surgical manipulation.

Observation:

A pelvic external fixation frame (Orthopaedic Systems Inc) was utilized to rigidly stabilize the intact hemipelvis to the operating table.
This stabilization allowed for manipulation of fractured and displaced pelvic fragments relative to the fixed hemipelvis.

Findings:

The described technique facilitates greater control and application of force for pelvic reduction maneuvers.
Successful application was demonstrated in cases of acute pelvic fracture and chronic pelvic nonunion/malunion.
