Summary

Limited evidence suggests oral tetracycline or excimer laser may treat recurrent corneal erosion. However, more high-quality trials are needed to confirm the effectiveness and safety of various treatments and prophylactic regimens for this condition.

  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of different prophylactic and treatment strategies for recurrent corneal erosion.

  • Searched multiple databases (CENTRAL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, LILACS) and contacted researchers.
  • Included randomized and quasi-randomized trials comparing interventions for RCE.
  • Independently extracted data and assessed trial quality, contacting authors for missing information.
