Circulating immune complexes correlate with severe pre-eclampsia and albuminuria. While not causing pre-eclampsia, these immune complexes may contribute to its development and severity.

Pre-eclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication.
The role of immune complexes in pre-eclampsia is not fully understood.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the correlation between circulating immune complexes and pre-eclampsia.
To assess the relationship between immune complexes and disease severity.

Main Methods:

Serum samples were analyzed from non-pregnant women, normal pregnancies, and pre-eclampsia cases.
Circulating immune complexes were quantified using the polyethyleneglycol precipitation method.

Main Results:

A significant positive correlation was observed between immune complexes and severe pre-eclampsia (hypertension and albuminuria).
