Nicotine effects on affective response in depression-prone smokers

Nicotine may improve mood in smokers vulnerable to depression. This study found that nicotine enhanced positive mood responses and helped dispel negative feelings when exposed to pleasant stimuli, but worsened reactions to negative stimuli.
