Methodology

Background:

The Delphi technique is a consensus-building method for expert opinion synthesis.
While used in palliative care research, its application in palliative care tool development is less common.
Recently applied to the Edmonton Classification System for Cancer Pain (ECS-CP) and Alberta Breakthrough Pain Assessment Tool for Research (ABPAT-R).

Report on using the Delphi technique for validity evidence of ECS-CP and ABPAT-R.
Identify challenges in Delphi application: sampling, design, consensus, and response rates.
Suggest improvements for Delphi effectiveness in international palliative care instrument development.
