[Carcinoembryonal antigen (CEA) in malignant lymphomas]
Abstract:
According to literature data, CEA is not specific only for tumours of endodermal origin, but it may be elevated in tumours of mesodermal origin including malignant lymphomas. The aim of this study was to find out whether elevated CEA levels can indeed be found in patients with malignant lymphomas and in which circumstances. The results point to the fact that neither Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphomas are associated with elevated CEA serum levels. Sporadic elevated CEA levels did not exceed 10 ng/ml. Appearance of any significant elevation requires additional diagnostic investigations.
