[Computer data processing in cancer registry in the Province of Vojvodina]

Population Cancer Registry is the essential part of the oncological service in the community. In order to improve the work in cancer Registry of Voivodina computer technics have been introduced. The input information is the medical report of malignancy. The Registry is organised for passive follow-up of the patients and for the registration of more than one primary tumour sites in the same person. Coding of the input information is coordinated with the international codex, so that the information from the Registry can be compared on the international level. The output information is the standard annual report of cancer incidence and mortality for the population of Voivodina according to large demographic and topographic characteristics. Special reports, as the part of the output information, may include more details about a special demand. In order to improve the quality of the Registry information on the internationally acceptable level, it is important to increase the number of histologically verified diagnoses, and to base death certificate data on only a few facts.
