Quantitative methods of spasticity assessment

Spasticity exists in many neurological diseases including cerebral palsy. Spasticity leads to the structural deformations, which are addressed, with different surgical and rehabilitation treatment.
Complex medical treatment consisting of surgical approach and physiotherapy has particular significance during the development of the child. Untreated, structural changes become permanent and seriously influence on functional restrictions in patient's future. Various methods of treatment are available for treatment of spasticity.
The choice of the most appropriate treatment methods is limited by the lack clinically useful methods of quantitative evaluation of spasticity. An author critically reviewed most of the existing methods of quantitative evaluation of spasticity. She emphasized the limits of their application and their clinical usefulness for precise and in quantitative evaluation of treatment progress.
