Background:

  • Thymoma is a rare tumor of the thymus gland.
  • Good syndrome is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by thymoma, immunodeficiency, and cytopenias.

Observation:

  • A 61-year-old man with a history of type B1 thymoma developed recurrent diarrhea and pneumonia one year post-surgery.
  • Laboratory findings revealed severe hypogammaglobulinemia and leukopenia.

Findings:

  • The patient was diagnosed with Good syndrome with leukopenia.
  • Treatment with gamma globulin and figrastim injections successfully managed symptoms.

Implications:

  • The development of infections in patients with thymoma warrants thorough immunologic evaluation.
  • Prompt diagnosis and treatment of Good syndrome are critical due to its poor prognosis.
