Summary

Retroperitoneal hemangiosarcoma in a Boxer dog caused hindlimb lameness and sciatic nerve deficits. Diagnostic imaging and surgery confirmed the tumor, leading to euthanasia due to hemoperitoneum.

  • Diagnostic imaging (radiography, ultrasonography, CT) identified a retroperitoneal mass involving the L7 vertebra and lumbosacral plexus.

Findings:

  • Surgical exploration revealed a large retroperitoneal hematoma.
  • Histopathology confirmed the presence of hemangiosarcoma.
  • The tumor's involvement of the lumbosacral canal and plexus contributed to neurological deficits.
