Methamphetamine may worsen HIV-1 by increasing dendritic cell (DC)-specific intercellular adhesion molecule-3 grabbing non-integrin (DC-SIGN) on DCs. This effect is mediated by dopamine D1 receptors and reversed by antagonists.
