[Post-traumatic lumbar hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction technique. A case report]

Summary
Traumatism-induced lumbar hernias, often underdiagnosed, can be effectively treated with parietal reconstruction. This surgical technique restores abdominal muscle anatomy and function, improving patient outcomes.

- A 59-year-old male with a traumatism-induced lumbar hernia presented with disinserted abdominal muscles.
- Imaging revealed tearing of transversus, obliquus externus, and internus muscles due to excessive pressure.
Findings:
- The Welti-Eudel technique was used, involving suturing muscles to lumbo-dorsal fasciae and inserting a parietal prosthesis.
- Excellent morphological and functional results were observed at 15 months, with anatomical restitution confirmed by CT scan.
Implications:
- CT scans are essential for diagnosing lumbar hernias, with repeat scans recommended to avoid hematoma interference.
- Surgical repair with prosthetic reinforcement is indicated for active adults to prevent recurrence and ensure long-term stability.
