[Reconstruction of the lateral tibial head by patellar transplantation]

Restoration of the lateral tibial condyle, a functionally intact knee joint, and correct physiological axis.

Posttraumatic cartilage and bone defect of the lateral tibial condyle too severe for reconstruction in a young patient.

Age > 50 years. Patellofemoral joint degeneration. Defect of the patella or lateral femoral condyle.

Transplantation of the own, ipsilateral patella into the bone defect of the lateral tibial condyle.

The result in one patient was found to be excellent 5 years after the accident and was good in one other patient 13 years following trauma. The third patient showed a good result 1.5 years after the accident.
